John

This is my messenger bag that I’ve been using for the past 5 years and it helps carry my work supplies for all my different gigs.

My company was cutting down on my hours and I wanted to supplement that so I started doing gig work with Uber and Lyft. As my company started downsizing more and more, I was working less than 20 hours a week and eventually got laid off. Then, I started doing gig work exclusively.

The challenging part is having a handle on all the administration management of your finances. Because the jobs are becoming more and more unstable, I can see Moves being worthwhile.

The amazing flexibility is why I keep going on with gig work. A couple weeks ago I spoke with my friend and it’s the end of the year. I visited him at the office just to see how his office is set up now and I noticed he had all this stuff on his desk so I asked him “what are you currently working on?” He says “I’m doing my performance review.” I had this big sigh of relief that I didn’t have to do a performance review! My old company had this lengthy process that was a headache, so it was a huge relief that I never have to do that again. That’s one of the big factors that I keep doing this. I’m my own boss. It’s the freedom, the flexibility.
